Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme originally created by The Broke and the Bookish. It is now hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl.
This week’s theme is Favorite Tropes. So many tropes to choose from! I’m listing ten tropes I enjoy in mysteries and thrillers.
1. Unreliable narrator
2. Everything is perfect on the outside
3. Girl goes back to hometown after years away
4. The whole neighborhood is involved
5. Memory loss
6. Buried secrets
7. Closed circle/Locked room
8. Missing spouse or child
9. Last girl left alive
10. Revenge
These are GREAT Darinda!!
Thanks, Jonetta! 💜
I’m a sucker for a good unreliable narrator. 🙂

It’s a sure way to peak my interest in a book. 😀
Unreliable narrators are sincerely my favourite! I can’t get enough of them, when they’re done right. It makes the tone so much bleaker and can be more chilling in the case of many. Also, yes! I love the use of “girl goes back to hometown after years away” and I’m stoked that you used All the Missing Girls as an example because that’s on my TBR and it just made me so much more excited to get to it.
Thanks, Jessica! Hope you enjoy All the Missing Girls. Happy reading! 💜
These are great tropes Darinda. Wonderful post.
