Reading Challenge: Modern Mrs. Darcy 2016

2016 Reading Challenge

I read a lot of books, so I always enjoy a good reading challenge or book list. One popular reading challenge for 2016 was posted on the Modern Mrs. Darcy blog. The challenge was to “read 12 books in 12 different categories in 12 months.” A lot of people come up with a book for each category before they start their list, but I tend to wing it throughout the year. Also, I combine reading challenges with book lists I’m working my way through. I’ve finished this reading challenge, so I thought I would post the books I read in case others out there are looking for ideas of books to read.

1. A book published this year – The Nest by Cynthia D’Aprix Sweeney
2. A book you can finish in a day – The Giver by Lois Lowry
3. A book you’ve been meaning to read – Winged Obsession by Jessica Speart
4. A book recommended by your local librarian or bookseller – Fallen by Lauren Kate
5. A book you should have read in school – Moby Dick by Herman Melville
6. A book chosen for you by your spouse, partner, sibling, child, or BFF – War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy
7. A book published before you were born – Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov
8. A book that was banned at some point – Howl and Other Poems by Allen Ginsberg
9. A book you previously abandoned – The Nemesis Origin by Dean Crawford
10. A book you own but have never read – The Coil by Gayle Lynds
11. A book that intimidates you – 11/22/63 by Stephen King
12. A book you’ve already read at least once* – Nuclear Jellyfish by Tim Dorsey

*I don’t normally read books again, so I changed this to another “book you own but have never read” challenge

“I am a reader, not because I don’t have a life, but because I choose to have many.” ― Unknown
