I’m starting a new monthly post for my Netgalley and Edelweiss shelves. I use both sites regularly, so I always have new books to read. Both sites are great for requesting ARCs, though it can be a challenge to not overdo on the requests. Lately, I’ve been pretty good about keeping the number of ARCs to read at a manageable amount. That hasn’t always been the case.
Last year, I started reading books a week or so before they were scheduled for publication. That way, I could easily post a review close to the publication date. That system works well, and it ensures I have a decent TBR to work from each month. Prior to that, I reviewed books as I received them. For now, I’m sticking with reading and reviewing close to the publication date. There is one problem with that system though. I have books I really want to read sitting around for months before I get to them. So, I may end up going back to reviewing books as I receive them.

I want that Downing book, too! Congrats on your NetGalley ration of 93%.
Thanks, Jonetta! Hopefully I can keep my ratios up this year. As long as I don’t go crazy requesting books, I should be good. 😊
93% on NG is awesome and 70% I can only dream about 👏👏👏
There are some publishers who prefer reviews to be posted in the week before the publication date, so your system makes a lot of sense to me.
Thanks! 💜
That’s why I switched to this system. So many publishers want reviews near the pub date. When reading books as I received them, I was scheduling reviews way in advance… like, months ahead of time. By then I had forgotten about the book.
